John.1
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word is the eternal name of Jesus Christ .Here we see that Jesus was eternally with God and is God.He is also the living Word of God. Revealed to use in God's Holy Word.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
Again we see that Christ is the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Many believe that God the Father was the creator but actually creation is attributed to Christ.
[4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Christ is the source of all life . Eternal life and creation.
He is also the light in this dark world.
[5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
The darkness of this world could not extinguish the light of Jesus Christ.
[6] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[7] The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
This is none other than John the Baptist. He said of Christ "Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!"
[9] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
There is one true light in the world and that is Christ.Everyone of us will be accountable if we turn away from the Light.
[10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Without the intervention of God this fallen world cannot comprehend God.
[11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Jesus was born a Jew but even their nation on the whole rejected Christ.
[12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
How do you receive Christ? You must believe in your heart that Christ died for your sins and truly ask Him to save you.
[13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
We can not inherit eternal life or work our way to eternal life or have any minister perform a service to "save us from our sins". It must be totally the soverign act of God to allow us the see our need of the Saviour.
[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Earths greatest miracle:the Incarnation. The eternal God becoming flesh in the man Christ Jesus.
[15] John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
[16] And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
[17] For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
The law came that we might see our need of a Saviour. No man can keep all of the Law. Only the God Man Jesus Christ. Hw came to be the perect sacrifice for all men's sin.
Let us give glory to God!
